Is Water Really Important for Weight Loss?

Whenever you read tips on losing weight faster, drinking more water is almost always one of the first things on the list, but why? And is it really that helpful or essential? Well, yes, along with getting enough exercise and eating a balanced, healthy diet, staying hydrated is one of the most important factors in healthy and fast weight loss. And here’s why…

It’s Essential for Energy and Brain Function

First of all, you probably already know that your body is about 80% water, right? Did you know, though, that just a 2% drop in hydration can give you a fuzzy-headed feeling, trouble with short-term memory, and difficulty doing simple math or focusing on words written in print or on a computer screen? If you aren’t well hydrated, you may feel sick or tired, and you’ll be less likely to put on your workout clothes and hit the gym than you would otherwise.

It Helps You Cut Down on Unnecessary Snacks

Did you know that it’s really easy to mistake thirst for hunger? If you’re not used to being well hydrated, you might think that you’re hungry in the middle of the afternoon when you usually eat a snack, but your body actually needs hydration much more than it needs calories.

Next time you feel like you need to run to the snack machine, try sipping on a cool, refreshing glass of water instead. You might be surprised at how much more full you’ll feel. For even better effects, drink water before every meal, and order water instead of sodas or sugary juice drinks. You’ll cut calories and feel more refreshed, too.

Plus, if you keep drinking enough water every day, your body will adjust, and you’ll stop getting that false hunger feeling. Instead, you’ll feel satisfied when you’re full and you will be able to better tell when you’re actually hungry.

It Helps You Shed Water Weight

Finally, this one might seem a little bit counter-intuitive, but drinking lots of water actually helps you shed weight from water retention. When your body is well hydrated, it won’t hold onto water, so you’ll lose that water weight and you won’t feel or look as bloated.

Drinking plenty of water is a really important part of weight loss, and without all that water weight and bloat, you’ll look amazing in your athleisure wear. Check out some of our attractive and comfortable clothes for the gym and everywhere else at
