7 Small Things That Can Make a Big Difference

Are you having trouble losing weight? Have you been working out, but you’ve hit a plateau that you can’t seem to break through? You may think that you need to hit the gym harder, cut more calories out of your diet, or do something else that seems almost impossible to you right now, but that may not be the case. In fact, there are actually a lot of really little things that you can do to lose more weight, improve cardiovascular health, enjoy more energy, and just improve your life all around.

Take the Stairs

Are you in the habit of taking the elevator when you just have to go up or down a couple of flights? Take the stairs instead. If you need to go up several floors, take a few flights of stairs and then take the elevator the rest of the way up. Keep doing this, and as it gets easier, start taking more and more stairs and cutting your elevator use down even more.

Do Some Light Meal Prep

You don’t have to prepare all of your meals in advance, but if you do a little bit of light meal prep on Sundays, you’ll have healthy lunches and/or snacks ready to go throughout the week. This way you won’t feel like you “have” to buy a calorie-packed lunch whenever you’re running late for work.

Don’t Go for the Best Parking Space

You can also get more steps in throughout the day and burn more calories by parking farther away. So leave the “good” spot for someone else and take a few more strides on your way into the office or the grocery store.

Drink Water Before Meals

This will ensure that you’re better hydrated, and it’ll make you feel fuller, so you’re less likely to overeat.

Keep a Food Diary

Writing down everything you eat takes very little time, but it’ll do a lot to help you become more conscious of what you’re eating so you can cut down on mindless snacking.

Use a Pedometer

Whether you download a pedometer app on your phone or invest in a tracker like a FitBit, you can see how much you’re walking each day and challenge yourself to take a few more steps each day.
